what to expect
-
We’ll review your health history and any current changes then decide upon best approaches for the session. I may ask questions to help better understand your goals and create a safe and relaxing session.
For example I might ask:
Areas of your body you’d like to focus on or avoid
Depth of pressure and techniques you prefer
Positions that are uncomfortable for you to rest in for long periods of time
Preferences in music or if quiet is best
If you tend to easily become hot or cold
Questions or concerns about the session
-
After we discuss best approaches, I’ll leave the room so you have privacy to get on the massage table.
You can wear loose, comfortable clothing or undress to your level of comfort. Once you’re on the table please cover yourself with the provided sheet and blanket.
I’ll knock on the door to check if you’re ready. Once you’ve given the ok, I’ll re-enter the room to begin the session.
You will be securely covered at all times. I will only uncover the area we’re currently addressing. I will never expose genitals or breasts.
If at any point you become uncomfortable, please let me know - it’s ok if you need a sip of water, a change in music, an extra blanket or are experiencing discomfort with a certain technique.
Remember - this is your session and I’m here to ensure your comfort and safety.
-
At the end of the session, I’ll let you know our time has come to a close.
I’ll leave the room so you can get off the table and change in privacy. Massage can increase circulation, so please be mindful and give yourself a moment to re-orient when getting up.
After you’re dressed, please open the door so I know it’s ok to re-enter. We’ll do a check-in after the session and review changes in your body and home-care.
How you feel after the session can vary based on length of the massage, techniques used and the demands placed on your body afterwards.
Common experiences can range from a desire for rest to feeling relaxed, refreshed, renewed and even energized.
-
Make sure you’ve received the appropriate medical clearance for any condition or injury.
Remember to eat a light meal before the massage and allow 30 mins to digest before getting on the table.
When possible, buffer in a 30-60 minute window around the massage so you don’t feel rushed.
Mild soreness can happen after massage. It’s not harmful. If it lasts longer than 24 hrs, please let me know so we can adjust our approach next time and avoid discomfort altogether.
